About Us and Our Hope For Asia
"Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples!" -1 Chronicles 16:24
When you think of Asia you think of people, right? Here, over 60 percent of the world’s population live— in just 30 percent of the world’s space. These are people with deep cultural roots, diverse languages, and devoted faith. Nearly one billion hindus, another near billion muslims. Hundreds of millions in Buddhism and Chinese religions, animism, & tribalism.
And Asia is rapidly changing; racing forward. It has become a world leader, representing half of the global economy. Like much of the rest of the world, Asia has been in the midst of a technological revolution that has changed the way people relate to the world around them. These descriptions only scratch the surface of the reality of life today on this amazing continent of unique people, each one of whom is a precious child of God. Can you hear the Father’s heartbeat for Asia?

Since 1881 the Free Methodist Church has had missionaries in Asia. God has graciously used the Gospel’s witness, and today our church in Asia represents nearly half of the membership of our small denominational family worldwide. Still, less than 7 percent of the people in Asia have come to personally know the love of God through Jesus.
Today we concentrate on servant-partnerships with indigenous leaders. We are intentional with appropriate evangelism to keep our work gospel-centric. We see the importance of the urban center as well as the rural and tribal. We place priority upon church planting amplified by ministries of compassion and justice. And we see the development of leaders as exponentially strategic. Reaching Asia for Jesus today requires ingenuity, boldness, courage, authentic relationships, perseverance, and a passion to share the love of God. Every effort is grounded in a fervency to share the Gospel with Asia— a part of our world that desperately needs to see the love and salvation that can only be found in Jesus. And we're praying that the Lord of the Harvest will send us more workers! Might that be you?
